A brief history of RAO - Rudolf A. Oetker KG. Through all the years RAO was engaged in long- and short-term chartering of bulk carriers, reefer vessels and motor tankers.

  Rudolf A. Oetker established RAO, the Motor Tanker “Ravensberg“ being the company’s first vessel

  The tween-deckers “Babitonga” and “Belgrano” are delivered by Flender-Yard, Lübeck
 
 
1954
  The motor-tankers “Richard Kaselowsky” and “Rudolf Oetker” are delivered by Deutsche Werft, Hamburg, take-over of Florida-Schiffahrtsgesellschaft and its vessel “Gustav Pistor” as well as purchase of Reederei Union, Kiel and its 3 vessels which were renamed to “Blumenau”, “Belmonte” and “Bonanaza”

  Delivery of the combined general cargo/reefer vessels “Cap Blanco” and “Cap Frio” by Flender-Yard, Lübeck

  Delivery of combined general cargo/reefer vessels “Cap Roca” and “Cap Verde” by Flender-Yard, Lübeck
 
 
1957
  Delivery of motor-tanker “Caroline Oetker” by Deutsche Werft, Hamburg, which was the biggest vessel of the German merchant marine at that time and purchase of the Sweden built Motor tanker “Johan Carel Oetker” (I)

  Delivery of Motor-vessel “Cap Domingo”

  Expansion of refrigerated ship capacities with 18 knot, 230.000 cubft vessels, delivery of Reefers “Cap Corrientes”, “Alexander von Humboldt”, “Cap Valiente”, “Harald Horn” and “Caroline Horn”

  Delivery of Reefer vessel “Polar Ecuador” (Polar Country Class) from Blohm&Voss, Hamburg

  Delivery of Bulk and Car Carrier “Belgrano” from Howaldtswerke, Kiel with a long-term VW-commitment and 5 Reefer vessels of the Polar Country Class from Blohm&Voss, Hamburg

  Long term charter of 6 SD-14 tweendeck-carriers ex Sunderland shipyard named with the prefix SANTA

  Purchase of several Bulk carriers through foreign subsidiaries many of which named with the prefix SANTA. Purchase of three French built Motor tankers which were renamed “St. Marcos”, “St.Vincent” and “St. Raphael”.

  Delivery of Motor Tankers “St. Michaelis”(II), “St.Nikolai”(II) and “St. Petri”(II) from AG Weser Yard, Bremen, vessels were sold in 1991 and consecutively chartered back until 2001

  Newbuilding of 38.000 dwt bulk-carriers “Bahia” and “Olinda” from Emaq-yard, Rio de Janeiro, which were solde to East German Deutfracht and chartered several times as “Maxhütte” and “Staßfurth” later on . Purchase of East German built “Santa Rita” and “Santa Rosa”.

  Delivery of the modern double-hull Productcarriers "St. Johannis" and "St. Marien" from the STX Shipbuilding yard (Korea) in our long-term Timecharter. These two vessels belong to a series of four sister vessels with a capacity of 51.000 dwt each.
