RAO’s product tankers are used for the shipment of “liquid bulk commodities”, such as fuel oil, aviation fuel and diesel, but also light chemicals. In the case of “liquid bulk commodities”, a distinction is made between “dirty cargoes” (including crude oil, bunker oil, heavy heating oil) and “clean cargoes” (petrol, kerosene, naphtha, among others).
In the product tanker segment, RAO has specialised in smaller units of up to 51,000 tons, so-called “medium-range (MR) product carriers”. The ships deployed by RAO are all fitted with double hulls to protect the environment. Unlike the large supertankers, they can also call at smaller ports and feature a multiplicity of pumping and loading systems that enable separate tank sections to be filled with different cargo. All tanks are coated and equipped with special high-pressure sprinkler systems which considerably facilitate careful cleaning.
RAO’s product tankers are under way worldwide and tend to be chartered for the medium and long term.
